Get to know Functional: Ingo
Ingo brings 18 years of frontend experience to functional – from taming IE6 to building React applications. Meet the engineer who believes in building things right, not just fast.
Hi, I’m Ingo. I turn complex ideas into intuitive digital user interfaces.
My Journey
Being a functional from the start, I add about 18 years of Frontend Engineering expertise to the versatile mix of disciplines our company has to offer. Along my way, I have seen agency work (general and e-commerce in particular), start-up life (from small to large, local to international, and from money-craving to well-funded), and consulting gigs: Working projects, building platforms, and creating digital products. With a background in design, I’ve come a long way from creating mockups and taming IE6’s CSS handling, to building interactive e-commerce experiences using jQuery, to utilizing angular for crafting PWAs when the name wasn’t yet coined, to eventually settling with React-based application engineering.
My belief
Today, I enjoy working in small teams, crafting well-designed, reactive user interfaces for modern business applications. I guide teams making architectural decisions, help blur the lines between the frontend and its backend and design peers, and love to mentor less experienced teammates using code reviews and pair programming. I believe in building things right rather than fast, and I actively guide teams away from short-term compromises to create maintainable, long-lasting products.
Beyond the screen
But we’re not just our working history, are we? Trying to prove that a four-day work week is as possible as it is desirable, I love to spend some of my extended spare time away from the computer (well, who doesn’t?). So, at times, I turn hiker or biker, other times climber, once or twice a year snowboarder, and once a week martial artist.
